Hi my name is Sam. I have been a personal trainer for 5 years. Until recently I worked in a gym but now run my own Fitsteps classes in the community. Before having my son in 2014 I competed in triathlons and thought nothing of going out on my bike all day. Having a child has completely changed how much I can commit to training at that standard. I lost my motivation to spend time in the gym. I gained weight and lost my confidence to go in the gym. I recently discovered Fitsteps and trained to become an instructor and I love it. I now teach my own classes in several different locations in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire. Fitness for me is about finding a way to move that you love. We all need to move to benefit both our physical and mental health but if the activity you choose is something you do because you feel you have to it won't be sustainable. You also won't find those feel good endorphins as easily! I have a passion for bringing fitness into communities. I teach two classes in a small village where people have to drive to access any other fitness activity. The ladies who attend my class have formed friendships and found support within their community. They often say it's given them a boost and a lift. This is a great feeling as an instructor! I'm really looking forward to being an ambassador for the community fitness network.
