Active IQ Level 3 Designing Exercise Programmes for Older Adults

 

In this course you learn the following: 

  • understand the effects of ageing on the UK population 

  • understand the physiological and biomechanical changes associated with ageing and their implications for physical activity 

  • understand the medical conditions commonly associated with old age and their implications for physical activity 

  • understand the key considerations for older adults participating in physical activity 

  • understand the communication skills required to engage with older adults 

  • understand the principles of collecting information to plan a physical activity programme for the older adult 

  • understand how to identify goals with older adults 

  • understand how to plan a physical activity programme for the older adult 

  • understand the teaching and instructing skills required when working with older adults 

  • be able to plan a physical activity programme for the older adult 

  • understand how to adapt exercise to meet the needs of older adults

Pre-Requisites 

To enrol on this course, you MUST hold a level 2 fitness instructing qualification or equivalent. Certificates need to be submitted at registration.

Course Delivery and Assessment 

The course is delivered via a virtual route. We have created our own platform, NETFIT which takes you through the bulk of your course work and content. You are also invited to attend a live webinar with your tutor. 

All learning is online - a hard copy manual is available at an additional cost of approximately £30.  You will have a named Tutor/assessor who can offer support.

How long does it take to complete the course?

All learning is completed in your own time.

Hours to complete the course – 30

You have 6 months to complete the course.  

All assessments must be completed within this time.  Where a leaner does not complete in the allotted time and wishes to continue an administration fee of £50 will be applied.

You can start the course whenever you like, there is no official start date. 

You will receive the following within 7 days of receiving your payment confirmation​

  • How to gain access to your learning materials

  • How to gain access to any technology you may need to use

  • How to submit your work and who you tutor/assessor is

  • Any additional information you may need to know including assessment information and receiving results
