This qualification will allow give you the knowledge and skills to design adapt programmes to meet the needs of older adults
The course consists of 2 units. Both are online theory units.
Physical Activity and health considerations in the older adult
This unit will cover the effects of ageing on the UK population and the changes that occur as we become older. You will gain knowledge of the considerations when taking part in exercise at an older age. You gain an understanding of the medical factors associated with aging, including knowledge about some specific medicines. You will be able to outline the contradictions of exercise at an older age. You will look at the motivation and communication skills required to work effectively with this age group. This unit is assessed through a worksheet that will be assessed by your tutor. Teaching will be through our online platform Netfit with webinar teaching with your tutor.
Design and adapting and exercising programmes for the older adult
This unit will cover screening, collecting client data, recording information and selecting appropriate activities. You will cover applying the principles of training that are suitable for older adults and learn about managing specific risks during physical activity. You will design a progressive and safe programme, this will be assessed through a case study and worksheets. Teaching will be through our online platform Netfit with webinar teaching with your tutor
